The IMU endorses the Leiden Declaration on Artificial Intelligence and Mathematics
The “Leiden Declaration on Artificial Intelligence and Mathematics” — published on June 2, 2026 — addresses key questions currently being raised about the impact of Artificial intelligence (AI) on day-to-day mathematical research.
The IMU Executive Committee and its Committee on Publishing (CoP), chaired by Ilka Agricola, have followed the development of the declaration closely. With its publication, I can now announce that the IMU endorses the Leiden Declaration on Artificial Intelligence and Mathematics.
