The Presidential Discretionary-Ukraine Support Program of Simons Foundation -- 2023

The Institute of Mathematics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine sincerely thanks the Simons Foundation for the support of researchers and institute. Due to the Grant "Research during the war at the biggest Ukrainian mathematical institution" within the framework of the Presidential Discretionary-Ukraine Support Program of the Simons Foundation.

The Grant amounted to USD 310,161.00, including USD 258,468 granted to 79 researchers and 8 PhD students who continue to work in Ukraine, as well as USD 51,693 in indirect costs. This Grant provided full + compensation of salary losses in 2023 caused by reductions in the basic institute funding, as well as made it possible to pay almost all utilities and services. A significant part of the Grant (from the amount of indirect costs) was directed to repairing the institute building following the devastating attacks of the aggressor on the Kyiv city in October 2022.

At the beginning of 2023, the Academic Council of the institute adopted a letter to the President of the Simons Foundation with thanks for this kind support of mathematicians who continue effectively working in Ukraine during the war.
