re very pleased to invite you to attend the International Conference dedicated to the outstanding mathematician and mechanician, academician Mikhail Alekseyevich Lavrentyev (19.XI.1900 - 15.X.1980) on the occasion of his birthday centenary to be held in K

ev, Ukraine, on 31 October - 2 November 2000. The Conference is organized according to the enactment of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU) by the Ukrainian Mathematical Society and by the Institute of Mathematics of NASU.  Professor M. A. 
Lavrentyev was the director of the Institute of Mathematics of NASU from 1939 till 1948 and the vice-president of NASU during 1945-1948.
\par         The program of the Conference envisages invited plenary lectures and section talks, short communications and poster sessions. 
\par         Main  topics  of  the  Conference  are  concentrated  around  scientific  traditions  of 
\par M. A. Lavrentyev, among which we mention complex analysis, geometric and constructive function theory, quasiconformal mappings, potential theory and partial differential equations, theoretic and applied mechanics and related fields of science.
\par         30 October 2000 is the arrival and registration day.
