On January 29, 2019 Catherine POZHARSKA had successfully defended Kandidate Dissertation "Best approximations and entropy numbers of the classes of periodic multivariate functions" under supervision of Doctor of Sciences Professor A.S.ROMANYUK. Official opponents were Doctor of Sciences, Professor Petro ZADEREI and Doctor of Sciences Stanislav CHAICHENKO.


On May 22, 2018 Hanna VLASIK had successfully defended Kandidate Dissertation "Estimates of norms for trigonometric polynomials and widths of classes of (ψ,β)-differentiable functions" under supervision of Doctor of Sciences Professor A.S.ROMANYUK. Official opponents were Doctor of Sciences Stanislav CHAICHENKO and Kandidate of Sciences Andriy MUSIYENKO.

On September 20, 2016 Irina MEREMELIA had successfully defended Kandidate Dissertation "Best approximations and extremal problems of classes of holomorphic functions" under supervision of Doctor of Sciences Viktor SAVCHUK. On December 23, 2014 junior scientific worker of the Department of Theory of Functions Nadiya DEREV'YANKO had successfully defended Kandidate Dissertation "Widths of classes of periodic functions of several variables" under supervision of Doctor of Sciences Professor A.S.ROMANYUK. Official opponents were Doctor of Sciences Professor I.O.SHEVCHUK and Kandidate of Sciences O.I.RADZIYEVSKA.


Leading scientific worker of the Department of Theory of Functions Doctor of Sciences Anatoliy SERDYUK was awarded by Golden Badge of Lesya Ukrainka Eastern European National University for significant contribution to the establishment and development of the University and on occasion of 20th anniversary of Department of Differential Equations and Mathematical Physics.



On June 3, 2014 junior scientific worker of the Department of Theory of Functions Viktor VOYTOVICH had successfully defended Kandidate Dissertation "Approximation of classes of (ψ,β)-differentiable functions by interpolatory analogs of de la Valle Poussin sums" under supervision of Doctor of Sciences A.S.SERDYUK. Official opponents were Doctor of Sciences Professor S.B.VAKARCHUK and Kandidate of Sciences S.O.CHAICHENKO. Additional opponent was Doctor of Sciences Professor P.V.ZADEREI.


Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine on its meeting on February 12, 2014 had awarded by M.G.Krein Prize Doctor of Sciences Viktor BUSLAEV, Doctor of Sciences Professor Anatoliy ROMANYUK and Doctor of Sciences Professor Mayor TIMAN for collection of papers "Extremal problems of the theory of approximation of smooth functions".


On September 17, 2013 junior scientific worker of the Department of Theory of Functions Andriy MUSIYENKO had successfully defended Kandidate Dissertation "Inequalities of Lebesgue type for La Vallee Poussin sums of classes of (ψ,β)-differentiable functions" under supervision of Doctor of Sciences A.S.SERDYUK. At February 25, 2009 Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine had awarded scientific workers of the Department of Theory of Functions Sergiy STASYUK, Igor SOKOLENKO and Andriy SHIDLICH by annual National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Prize for young scientists for work "Investigation of approximative properties of classes of functions of one and several variables"

Collection of papers "Theory of approximation of functions and related problems" is published as Volume 5, No.1 of "Collection of works of the Institute of Mathematics of Ukainian Academy of Sciences". Collection is devoted to the memory of O.I.STEPANETS.

On February 6, 2008 Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine had confirmed Doctor of Sciences Anatoly ROMANYUK as the Head of the Department of the Theory of Functions of the Institute of Mathematics of NASU.


Scientific workers of the Department are taking part in preparation of International Scientific Conference "DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS, THEORY OF FUNCTIONS AND THEIR APPLICATIONS" dedicated to 70th birthday of Academician of NAS of Ukraine A.M.SAMOILENKO, which will be held at the base of Tavriyskiy State Agrotechnological University from June 16 to 21, 2008, in Melitopol, Ukraine.

Collection of papers "Problems of the theory of approximation of functions and related problems" is published as Volume 4, No.1 of "Collection of works of the Institute of Mathematics of Ukainian Academy of Sciences".

By decree from December 4, 2007 President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko had awarded scientific workers of the Department of Theory of Functions Sergiy STASYUK, Igor SOKOLENKO and Andriy SHIDLICH by annual President of Ukraine Prize for young scientists for work "Investigation of approximative characteristics of functional classes"


Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine on its meeting on February 28, 2007 had awarded by M.M.Krylov Prize Corresponding Member of NAS of Ukraine MAKAROV Wolodymyr Leonidovich, Corresponding Member of NAS of Ukraine STEPANETS Olexander Ivanovich and Professor Fahraddin ABDULLAYEV for collection of papers "Modern methods of theory of approximation and interpolation".


On October 31, 2006 postgraduate of the Department of the Theory of Functions Oksana FEDUNYK had successfully defended Kandidate Dissertation "Linear and orthoproject widths of classes of periodic functions of several variables" under supervision of Doctor of Sciences A.S.ROMANYUK. Official opponents were Doctor of Sciences V.N.KONOVALOV and Kandidate of Sciences N.A.NAZARENKO.


On February 28, 2006 senior scientific worker of the Department of Theory of Functions Anatoly SERDYUK had successfully defended Doctor Dissertation "Extremal problems of approximation theory on classes of infinitely differentiable periodic functions" . Scientific advisor - Corresponding Member of NASU Prof. Alexander STEPANETS. Official opponents - Corresponding Member of NASU Prof. Miroslav GORBACHUK, Prof. Anatoly LIGUN and Prof. Mayor TIMAN.

On March 4, 2004 President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma had delivered honorary medals to laureates of State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology for year 2003 and to laureates of annual President of Ukraine Prizes for young scientists.
