Geodesic equations on diffeomorphism groups

Abstract:
Considering right invariant metrics on the group of diffeomorphisms of the circle and on the group of volume preserving diffeomorphisms on a Riemannian manifold, as well as on extensions of these groups, some conservative hydrodynamical systems are obtained as geodesic equations.
