Over the years, noncommutative geometry has developed
into a new branch of pure mathematics, and has also influenced
and found applications in many other areas of mathematics.
It has been further applied in a variety of physical contexts, most
notably to gauge theories, the Standard Model, the fractional quantum
Hall effect, string theory and M-theory, and various scenarios for
quantum gravity. Quantum field theories on noncommutative spaces have
also taught us lessons about foundational issues in field theory and
gravity. The aim of this special issue of SIGMA is to provide a
contemporary overview of some of the main developments and
applications of noncommutative geometry, ranging from formal
considerations to phenomenological applications.
Topics for this special issue will include:
-
gravity in noncommutative geometry;
-
formal aspects of noncommutative quantum field theory, such as renormalization;
-
noncommutative instantons, solitons and vortices;
-
quantum groups, deformation quantization, and related structures;
-
physical applications, such as the Standard Model and potential
phenomenology.
Papers on these or related topics are welcome for this issue.
How to Submit an Article to the Issue.
Both original research articles and review papers will be
considered (not having been published elsewhere).
There is no limit to the length of an article. Deadline for paper submission is March 30, 2010.
All articles will go
through the standard peer reviewing procedure of SIGMA.
If you have your paper ready earlier than the deadline, we encourage
you to send it now. We will start the reviewing process and publish the paper
as soon as the positive publication decision is made. The paper will be indexed in
the relevant databases as soon as it is published without waiting for
completion of the special issue.
The poster of the issue is available in A4 format and A3 format.
