The use of p-adic numbers in calculating symmetries of evolution systems

Abstract:
Evolution equations were thought to be integrable, in the posession of infinitely many generalized symmetries, if one such a symmetry exist. Using p-adic number theory it is shown that this is not the case. A two dimensional example with exactly two symmetries is presented.
