Random walks on Lie groups and quark confinement

Abstract:
Random walks which describe diffusion of Wilson loops on the group manifold in Casimir scaling and screening modes are discussed. It is shown that the step distribution change dramatically when screening takes place, thus indicating transition from stochastic confinement to coherent effects. Mathematical aspects of such approach and its connection to various models of confinement are considered.
